Managing Your Index Data

Review and edit Index fields, choose their sources, and use those values as pipeline columns, filters, and sort.

Updated September 2026

Review, edit, and control the source of every field in Index to keep your deal data accurate and ready for document generation.

The Index tab is organized into collapsible sections, each representing a category of deal data. You can expand or collapse any section to focus on what you need.

Each row in a section represents a single data field. For every field you will see:

  • Field name — the label for the data point (e.g., "Net Operating Income")
  • Value — the current active value for this field
  • Source — where the value came from (e.g., a specific uploaded file, manual entry, or an integration)

Scroll through sections or use the section headers to jump between Property, Financials, Sponsor, Market, and Comparables.

Editing a field value

You can edit any field in Index at any time. When you edit a field, your value becomes the authoritative value for the deal and is marked as manually entered.

Edit a field value in Index
  1. Find the field you want to edit. Locate the row in the relevant section of Index.
  2. Click the value to open the edit state. The field becomes editable inline.
  3. Enter your updated value and confirm. Your change is saved. The Source column updates to reflect that the value was manually entered.

Your edited value will be used in all documents generated from this deal going forward.

Correcting inaccurate source data

If none of the available sources are correct, you can edit the value manually instead. A manual entry always takes priority over any document source.

Asking Lev Agent to input data

You can also ask Lev Agent to add or update Index values for you. Values entered by Lev Agent are labeled User input in the Source column, just like values you enter manually.

Selecting a source for a field

When multiple uploaded documents contain a value for the same field, Lev selects the most reliable one by default. You can see which document is the active source in the Source column. If you prefer a different source, you can change it without manually re-entering the value.

Select a different source for an Index field
  1. Click the Source label on the field you want to update. A dropdown appears showing all available sources for that field, including each document that contained a value and the value each one provided.
  2. Select the source you want to use. Index updates the field value to match the selected source. The Source column reflects the change.

How Lev prioritizes sources

When you upload multiple documents and do not manually select a source, Lev automatically determines which value to use based on document quality and type. In general, Lev favors:

  • More structured document types (e.g., a rent roll over a summary OM)
  • More recently uploaded documents when quality is comparable
  • Documents with higher extraction confidence

You can always override the automatic selection by choosing a different source or entering a value manually. Your team's input takes precedence over any automated selection.

When a field is empty

If a field has no value, it means Lev was not able to extract it from your uploaded documents, or no document containing that field has been uploaded yet. Empty fields will not immediately appear in Index, but you can add them yourself with + Add row or ask Lev Agent to input them.

Index columns on a pipeline

Index columns let you show a deal's Index values on a pipeline. In Add & edit fields, those fields sit in Property, Market, Financial, Loan, Companies, Deal, and Pipeline, in alphabetical order inside each group.

  • Open view settings — Click View settings on the pipeline.
  • Open the field picker — Click Add & edit fields.
  • Find the field — Type in Search fields….
  • Add the column — Click the field name.
  • Show the fields on Kanban and Map — Turn on Show on Kanban & Map.

A pipeline can show up to 50 Index columns. After that, more Index fields stay out of the picker until you remove one.

Filtering a pipeline by Index fields

Index field filters keep the deals whose Index values match a condition you set. The same filters apply in List view, Kanban view, and Map view.

  • Open filters — Click Filters on the pipeline.
  • Open Index fields — Click Index fields.
  • Choose a field — Search in that menu, then click the field.
  • Set the condition — Choose a Condition, enter a Value when the field asks for one, and click Apply filter.

The Condition list depends on the field. Number fields use At least, At most, and Between, which asks for From and To. Date fields use On or after and On or before. Yes/no fields use Is true and Is false. Text fields use Contains and Is. Every field also includes Is empty and Is not empty. Turn on Exclude matches to keep deals that do not match. A pipeline can hold 50 Index field filters.

Sorting a pipeline by an Index column

List view sorts the pipeline by an Index column after you add that column.

  • Open list view — Click List view.
  • Sort by the column — Click the Index column header. Click it again to reverse the order.
